Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent defended 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
