Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
A high-ranking political figure stated the incident rendered him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
